Scripture:

2 Peter 1:3-5 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Observation:

God gives us the power to grow in Him. By ourselves we become lost and in the dark. Through Him we participate in His divine nature and through Him we can escape the evils of a secular world. Our focused strength in Him protects us from Satan’s influence. Our focus must be on God and not on ourselves.

Application:

It is so easy to be focused on the material things and not God. I find that that to be too true in my life. I must keep reminding myself of what is important – it is not the boat and fishing or golf or whatever. My focus must be on God.

Prayer:

Father, through Your grace and the sacrifice of Jesus, I am offered an opportunity to be in Your divine kingdom. Let me not forget that You are my Shield and Savior. Your grace, Your Word, and Your Son are my true focus. Thank You for my blessings and my salvation. Amen.
