Scripture:
John 15:1-2 I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch that doesn't produce fruit and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
Observation:
This scripture was a good reminder for me that God prunes those that are bearing fruit. In order for us to do more, God must prune us so that we can produce an abundance of fruit. If He weren't taking the time to prune me, then I should be concerned, instead of the other way around.
Application:
I shouldn't feel like I've done something wrong or could've done something different when I'm faced with challenges; instead, I need to thank God for pruning me. Recently when faced with a trial, I started questioning what I could've done wrong and where in my walk with God I had grown weak that was causing the situation. After reading this scripture and through prayer, God revealed to me that this trial was about refining me because I was listening.....not that I had gotten off base in my faith in Him. If I am never pruned, I won't be able to grow and produce more fruit.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for hearing my prayer and showing me what You are doing in my life. Thank You for taking the time to prune me so that I can produce more fruit for You. I am so grateful to be connected to You so that I can be a vessel for Your kingdom.
Annica, I love this blog! It was refreshing! Sheila
