Scripture:
John 10: 9 “I am the gate: whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture.”
Observation:
As the sheep go through the gate they are saved. They go in and find pasture. As we accept Christ and go through Him, not only are our souls saved, but life with Christ is easier. It is not easy, but easier. We are no longer afraid, because we know He protects us. We are no longer in need, because He provides for us. Yes, we may still fear in our earthly life, and yes, we may still need, but those feelings overcome us when we forget our life with Christ, like a sheep out in the pasture too far off from our flock. We forget we are protected. We need to come back to the flock (our congregation) and stay close to the Shepherd (Christ).
Application:
As long as we keep Christ in the foremost of our thoughts, we will remember He is our Shepherd and in always looking over us. As long as we stay close to the rest of our brothers and sisters in Christ, we will be reminded of His love and protection. We will be supported in our earthly fears. We will have strength in numbers. His numbers. His flock.
Prayer:
Lord, You have shown us time and again that through You we are saved, and that with You we are protected. Your truth in this is not only shown through Your Word, but many of us have experienced this time and time again. Maybe we need to be reminded, and that’s why You keep doing so. I thank You for Your pasture and the flock of brethren You have provided me. I pray I feel You next to me in my time of need and when I doubt or fear. I pray You whisper to me that I am Your sheep and should not wander. Keep me with Your flock, with Your Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.
What a beautiful picture you painted with the images of the flock and Shepherd, Lis. I love it all! Thanks for sharing. Sheila
