Scripture:

Ezekiel 11:19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

Observation:

The people of God had become distracted by their worship of their different idols and therefore divided their affections toward God. Jesus says in Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other." God's plan was to give them a heart transplant! A new heart that was undivided by idol worship. A heart that was focused on the one and only true God! In order to give them a new heart, God had to remove the heart that was already there: a hard, calloused, and indifferent heart. The Bible says in Hebrews 3:7-8: "So, as the Holy Spirit says:  'Today, if you hear his voice, do not HARDEN your hearts...'." The Bible instructs us that our hearts become hard whenever we do not listen to the voice of God when He speaks to us. God's plan was to remove this heart and give them a new heart that was responsive to His voice and commands as Jesus said in John 10:27 when He said: "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."

Application:

God's plan for me is to have an undivided and responsive heart toward Him. A heart that is fully devoted to Him. If Jesus is not the #1 priority in my life, it is a good sign that I have a divided heart and in need of a heart transplant. I shouldnt wait, like the people in Ezekiel, for some calamity to come upon me in order for this change to happen, but today, when I hear His voice, I should repent and ask God to change me! When I do this, God is willing and able to remove my calloused and indifferent heart and give me a soft and responsive heart.

Prayer:

Lord, search my heart today by your Holy Spirit! If there is any division in my heart, I repent! Please forgive me! Please change me as only You can! Give me today a undivided and responsive heart! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
