Scripture:

Psalms 85:8 I will listen to what God the Lord will say: He promises peace to His people, His saints- but let them not return to folly. 9 Surely His salvation is near those who fear him, that His glory may dwell in our land 10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest. Righteousness goes before him, prepares the way for his steps.

Observation:

If we listen to the Lord He promises us peace, but warns us not to return to our old ways. The Lord will give good to the righteous.

Application:

The word that really stood out to me was peace. "He promises peace to His people, His saints." The thing I long for most in my life is peace. I think most people do. But a lot of times I look for peace in the wrong way. True peace can only come from Him. Not in money, activities, doing what I want. It's in the still, quiet times I spend with Him in His Word...that is when I can hear Him, pray to Him, knowing He's heard me. The peace that comes from that time is so sweet.
Verse 10 is beautiful, like a poem. The Lord gives what is good when I walk in righteousness. When others see the peace and joy that the Lord has given me, they may ask why and want the same for themselves. Like the Psalmist said, "and our land will yield its harvest."

Prayer:

Lord I love You and thank You everything You have done for me. You are a generous God. Thank You for always listening to me and being there always. Thank You for YOUR peace, even when it's not peaceful! I know that You only give what is good for my life. Help me to show Your love and kindness to everyone I meet today. I also pray for the people I meet today, that they will come to know and love You and receive You as their Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
