January 11's blog is below this one--it's a great read!
Scripture:
Psalms 6:1-4 ¹O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. ²Be merciful to me, Lord for I am faint; O Lord, heal me for my bones are in agony. ³My soul is in anguish. How long, O Lord, how long? ⁴Turn, O Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
Observation:
A prayer of David - man of God - asking for God’s mercy and understanding. He comes before God knowing all his failings and shortcomings, and places himself at God’s mercy. David’s God has supreme power for discipline, healing, and deliverance. My God, too!
Application:
Oh, that I could be as humble as David, as willing to admit my failings and toss my pride away, asking for deliverance from situations where I’ve placed myself, and realizing that deliverance and grace come from the Lord “because of his unfailing love” and not thru any doings on my part.
Prayer:
O Lord, be merciful to me a sinner. I come into Your presence with a humble heart, amazed at all the beauty and tender mercies You bestow on me. May I be ever mindful of Your power and Your unfailing love. Thank You, Lord, for Your Love.
Sherrill, a lovely read. We are such sinners. I try never to forget that!
